Upstream provider maintenance

We have received notice that one of our upstream providers in Manchester will be performing hardware replacement and software updates:

“Following a recent Major Incident impacting a core router in Manchester, these works are to perform a hardware change and perform a vendor recommended operating system update to ensure future stability.”

We will therefore be bringing the affected circuit out of service before their maintenance begins. Faelix is multi-homed to numerous separate upstream networks, so we anticipate no disruption to customer services during the provider’s maintenance window.


Timeline

We will be taking the circuit out of service in about 30 minutes’ time.

2019-06-10 19:08

The affected circuit has been drained of traffic. We will leave our network in this state until we receive the all-clear from our provider, early tomorrow morning.

Our supplier has informed us that the works are about to begin: “Please be advised that the below maintenance is due to commence as detailed below.”

The provider has advised that the work is complete, so we have brought the circuit back into service. We will monitor the situation for a while before closing this event.
